Hey y’all, how goes it? Welcome to the ‘Living as me Series’ This wasn’t supposed to be a series. It was supposed to be a music Monday for the song Thanxx by Ateez, but then as I got to writing, I read a book and started thinking, and thus a series was born. I never wanted to do a series about K-pop. I didn’t want people to think I was weird or immature, but something has happened this week, and now I really don’t care. What happened, you ask???? I just stopped caring, and my goodness, does it feel wonderful! I’ll explain what I mean by that later, but here is the outline. First up on Monday will be a #MusicMonday (Thanxx by Ateez); it’s pretty awful and a little aggressive, but I had so much fun writing it, so I hope you enjoy it.
Next will be the main blog post portion of the series. I’m not one to read self-help books. It’s not that I think they are stupid. I just have plenty of help from my counselor and psychiatrist, and I don’t need anyone else’s advice. I just don’t read those kinds of books. That being said, Leedo from Oneus was going to do a V-live (it’s a live streaming fan site platform for K-pop groups), and he was going to be reading a book. I was super excited! I don’t speak Korean, but I hoped someone would subtitle it at some point. Plus, he NEVER goes live, so I was just excited to see him do a live, by himself without the others. I never got to see it. I guess some ‘fans’ (and I use that term VERY loosely) were telling him to stop and just go to sleep blah blah blah. I don’t know the details, but they tend to do lives pretty late in the evening (which is morning for me, so it works out), but all the members of Oneus are adults! They can do whatever the heck they want!!!! But anyway, he ended it early and never uploaded the replay, so while I’m here…. “Thanks a lot!!!! Now we’re never going to see Leedo do another live, and it’s all your fault!!! I hope you are happy!!!!!”. That was rude of me; I’m sorry…. or am I???
Anyway, someone found out the title of the book he was supposed to read, and it’s called “I decided to live as me” by Kim Soo-Hyun. I was like, wow, that seems like a pretty good decision, and someone posted kind of the gist of the book, and it looked half decent, so I looked and found an English translation. I bought it even though I thought it was ridiculously expensive. I don’t know what made me buy it, but now I understand why it was so expensive……. It’s A-Mazing, not amazing, A-mazing! Like, guys…… Y’all got to read it. If you like the stuff that I write, you are going to love her book!!!!!!!!! My counselor kept saying I should write a book, but now I can tell her I don’t have to because someone already did, and it’s perfect. So, Part 2 is going to be about the book and how K-pop has made a difference in my life, and you probably think that sounds stupid just reading it, but it’s true. You can judge me all day, but you have to read it first because if you are going to judge me, you need to know all the details so you can do it properly. Don’t bother judging me if you aren’t going to go all out.
And Part 3 will be another #MusicMonday for the song Now by Oneus. Yes, I did translate the lyrics myself. I didn’t like any of the other translations I found, but it’s a song that summarizes what I’m trying to say, and I love Oneus. Shout out to my fellow Tomoons I am writing the first draft of this the day after our 2nd anniversary, and yes, I did get up at 3 am to watch the V-live party for a bit. Yes, I did think it was adorable when Seoho tried to share the strawberries with the camera, although I was very sad, I didn’t get any of the cake. I don’t even like chocolate cake, but I would have eaten that chocolate cake. It looked wonderful, but my birthday is this week, so maybe I’ll get some good cake if I’m lucky.
Lastly, we will have the outro. I don’t need to write one, but every good K-pop album has an Intro and an Outro, and while I’m aware that this is a blog and not an album, I also don’t particularly care. Anywho…. Welcome to my second-ever series! I really hope it doesn’t suck. I guess we will find out together.
Now for a few surprises. First, we are good friends now (Even if we aren’t, I’ve shared my secret identity with too many people for it to remain a secret). I suppose I should formally introduce myself now. You can call me Er-Budd it’s my name on every K-pop live fan board I’ve ever joined, so you may have seen me. I always have a cute Pokémon as my profile pic. You really can’t miss it. It’s pronounced Air-bud. It has nothing to do with the movie, but It’s my nickname in college. The Er is for Erin because there was me, Aaron, and another Aaron. To tell us apart, I was Er-Budd, the other one was A-A-ron, and the 3rd one we all just referred to him by his last name. Anyway, you can call me Er-Budd.
I’ve mentioned my age once or twice if anyone has been keeping track. I will be turning 26 this week, and you basically know everything else. I like animals and K-pop. I have strong opinions about Asian tv show plot lines, and I’m not a very interesting person…… Moving on. But that brings me to surprise number 2. I’m on Twitter now, it’s mostly just for my K-pop friends, but there are so many good memes on the bird app that I am immensely enjoying. If you want to find me on the tweeter, my name is @libd_blog.
